Hours: 4 on, 4 off; 06:00 - 18:00, 18:00 - 06:00

Job Overview

We’re looking for a hands-on Shift Skills Development Manager to lead and develop a team of 12–18 Manufacturing Operatives. In this role, you’ll spend around 60% of your time providing on-the-job skills training, ensuring our people are equipped to meet current and future manufacturing requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive leader who is passionate about coaching, continuous improvement, and building high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop Manufacturing Operatives, Production Technicians and Quality Technicians to achieve production targets.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring full compliance with all H&S procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Assess training needs and competency levels across the shift, identifying skill gaps and development priorities.
  • Create and deliver tailored training plans to upskill team members.
  • Ensure full adherence to all company policies, procedures and operational standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational information within the Factory Master system.
  • Work collaboratively with other Shift Skills Development Managers, ensuring clear and comprehensive handovers to maintain consistent production across shifts.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on team activities and operational performance.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing environment (essential).
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage, coach and develop a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills (including spreadsheets and word processing).
  • A positive “can-do” attitude with strong time-management skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable driving continuous improvement in a changing environment.
