Job Overview

The person in this role will support the Quality Manager and Shift Skills Development Managers to make sure that production processes are being followed correctly and meet quality standards. A key part of their job will be performing in-process testing and giving approval for the operational team to continue with the next steps in production.

They will also assist the Quality Engineer by helping to write and prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for review and approval. In addition, they’ll share quality testing results with the Shift Skills Development Managers to help them make informed decisions during production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verification of the production processes with independent responsibility for control of quality specifications.
  • Validating all shift quality analysis reporting by implementing ‘spot check’ activity and recording.
  • Assist in the Shift Training required of new starters to rapidly enhance their appreciation of required product quality.
  • Inform Quality Manager and Shift Management of any occurrence or foreseeable occurrence likely to cause an issue with specified product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures whilst maintaining a high standard of housekeeping. Specifically, the 5-core company mission focus areas: -

QHSE – Procedure – Quality – Housekeeping – Awareness.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • This is a technical and analytic role and therefore requires a relevant work history and appropriate scientific qualifications to a minimum of ‘A’ level.
  • A degree level Chemical Engineering qualification would be highly desirable.
  • A “hands on” role requiring a conscientious approach to operating and maintaining the quality inspection and assurance processes and procedures in an organised manner and conducted within the appropriate test environment and prescribed protocol.
  • A good Understanding of Quality Management Systems to support improvements.
  • Equally important is to be a team player with a can-do attitude and a collaborative mindset to fix and make it right rather than just finding a fault or reporting a failure.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to investigate internal rejections using root cause tools such as 5 Whys.
