Bed Grading – AFS Series

UNICAT AFS (Advanced Filtration System) represents the most advanced and comprehensive pressure drop mitigation technology available to the refining and chemical industries.  In 2021, UNICAT now offers the latest generation technology with it’s advanced E Series.  The AFS product line represents the broadest range of filter sizes and meshes available to meet the most severe and challenging operations in the field. From operations dealing with ultra small size fines of 5 microns to large size iron scales exceeding 2500 microns, there is an AFS product designed to handle each specific service.

UNICAT’s AFS product line in combination with UNICAT’s CGS active ring technology provides the perfect combination of products to any industrial user in order to optimize and enhance their existing grading solutions.  Units that currently use standard grading types such as ceramic balls, wagon wheels, layered rings, larger quadralobes or optimized grading like CAT TRAP, are especially well served to consider the AFS product line to maximize bed performance.

AFS-45XXE Series

AFS’s high radial and axial strength is well suited for high pressure applications such as CFH, GOHT and HCU reactors as well as less severe applications such as NHT and DHT. AFS is available in three different opening sizes; 10, 25, and 50.

AFS-33XXE Series

AFS’s high radial and axial strength is well suited for high pressure applications such as CFH, GOHT and HCU reactors as well as less severe applications such as NHT and DHT. The 33 Series AFS are for physical size transitioning between grading layers and small diameter (< 6 ft.) reactors. AFS is available in three different opening sizes; 10, 25, and 50.

AFS-25XXE Series

The primary purpose of the 25 Series is to provide physical size grading transition between a layer of 33 Series  AFS grading disks and a layer of grading rings. Additionally, AFS-25 Series provides filtration of sub-800 micron particulates and flow redistribution to the lower layers. Depending on the opening size, AFS-25 Series has a nominal 77 – 353 triangles per disk and is available in three different opening sizes; 10, 25, and 50.

AFS-19XXE Series

The primary purpose of the 19 Series is to provide physical size grading transition between a layer of 25 Series  AFS grading disks and a layer of grading rings in applications with sever pressure drop. Additionally, AFS-19 Series provides filtration of sub-800 micron particulates and flow redistribution to the lower layers. Depending on the opening size, AFS-19 Series has a nominal 39 – 226 triangles per disk and is available in three different opening sizes; 10, 25, and 50.

AFS NiMo Series

the AFS-76-XXXXE series are the same uniquely shaped, filtration grading disks promoted with NiMo for de-nitrification. AFS is available in three different opening sizes; 10, 25, and 50.

AFS-CoMo Series

the AFS-75-XXXXE series are the same uniquely shaped, filtration grading disks promoted with CoMo for HDS. AFS is available in three different opening sizes; 10, 25, and 50.

AFS-ST-XXXXE Series

is a dual purpose; pressure drop mitigation and silica trap; filter grading disk. The AFS-ST-XXXXE series is specifically manufactured to have the active surface area necessary to trap silica particles. AFS-ST-XXXXE can capture up to 10% Silica.  AFS is available in three different opening sizes; 10, 25, and 50.

AFS-G6E

G6E is a uniquely shaped, ultra high void space, high alumina, inert filtration grading disk. The AFS-G6E version also functions as a heavy hold down material. The opening size provides a nominal 36 triangles per square inch and effectively filters particles ranging in size from 800 to 3,500 microns.
