Bed Grading – AFS Series

AFS Series – Unicat’s AFS HA series are uniquely shaped, high alumina, inert filtration grading disks designed to mitigate pressure drop problems due to the build-up of various fouling agents at the top grading layers of hydrotreating reactors and other fixed bed units. AFS’s high radial and axial strength is well suited for high pressure applications. The 10 mesh size effectively filters large size iron scale and polymerization particles. The 25 mesh size effectively filters carbon and other medium size fines. The 50 mesh size effectively filters iron sulfide, coker and solid silica fines. The 60 mesh size is designed to effectively filter ultra-small and sub-5 micron fines. The mini size AFS are for physical size transitioning between grading layers and small diameter (< 6 ft.) reactors. AFS’s open, controlled dimension channels, maintain and distribute flow (e.g. mitigate feed channeling and delta T), while simultaneously filtering the pressure drop causing particulates through AFS’s high void fraction, fully flow accessible, internal void spaces for pressure drop mitigation that is unmatched in the industry.

AFS-HA Series

AFS’s high radial and axial strength is well suited for high pressure applications such as CFH, GOHT and HCU reactors as well as less severe applications such as NHT and DHT. The four AFS mesh sizes; 10, 25, 50 & 60.

AFS-Mini Series

AFS’s high radial and axial strength is well suited for high pressure applications such as CFH, GOHT and HCU reactors as well as less severe applications such as NHT and DHT. The mini size AFS are for physical size transitioning between grading layers and small diameter (< 6 ft.) reactors. The three AFS mesh sizes; 10, 25, & 60.

AFS-NiMo Series

the AFS 7600 series are the same uniquely shaped, filtration grading disks promoted with NiMo for de-nitrification. The three AFS mesh sizes; 10, 25, & 50 (the 7600 series AFS products, the mini size also has a significantly higher surface area due to the difference in manufacturing techniques for the standard and mini sizes).

AFS-CoMo Series

the AFS 7500 series are the same uniquely shaped, filtration grading disks promoted with CoMo for dehydrogenation. The three AFS mesh sizes; 10, 25, & 50 (the 7500 series AFS products, the mini size also has a significantly higher surface area due to the difference in manufacturing techniques for the standard and mini sizes).

AFS-MX Series

are the double-calcined version, for very high pressure applications, of Unicat’s uniquely shaped, HA (High Alumina) Series, filtration grading disks. The three AFS mesh sizes; 10, 25 and 50; sizes respectively offer a nominal 100, 200 and 400 triangles per square inch or a nominal 250, 500 and 1,000 triangles per disk.

AFS-ST Series

-is a dual purpose; pressure drop mitigation and silica trap; filter grading disk. The AFS-ST series is specifically manufactured to have the active surface area necessary to trap silica particles. AFS-ST is available only in one disk size with three different mesh sizes; 10, 25, 60. The 60 mesh size effectively filters iron sulfide, coker and solid silica fines

AFS-G6/HD

G6 is a uniquely shaped, ultra high void space, high alumina, inert filtration grading disk. The AFS-G6HD version also functions as a heavy hold down material. The 6 mesh size AFS provides a nominal 36 triangles per square inch and effectively filters particles ranging in size from 800 to 3,500 microns.

AFS-UM Series

AFS-UM Series is an “Ultra-Mini” size version of Unicat’s AFS HA series. The primary purpose of AFS-UM is to provide physical size grading transition between a layer of mini size of AFS grading disks and a layer of grading rings. Additionally, AFS-UM provides filtration of sub-800 micron particulates and flow redistribution to the lower layers.
